The three measurements to take before buying car accessories online

Car interior dashboard measure

Almost every in-car accessory that gets returned fits some cars and not yours. Three measurements, taken once, remove most of that risk.

1. Cup-holder diameter

Measure straight across the opening of the recess, not the base. Most Indian hatchbacks and sedans sit between 65 mm and 75 mm; a coaster listed at 70 mm will not sit flat in a 62 mm holder. Take the measurement with the mat or liner already in place.

2. Boot floor

Measure the flat area only — the part behind the loading lip, before the wheel-arch bulges. Note length, width and the height available under the parcel shelf. An organiser wider than the flat area tips whenever you brake.

3. Windshield

Measure the glass diagonally at its widest, and separately the height at the centre. Sun shades are sold by panel size; a shade that overlaps the A-pillars by a few centimetres is fine, one that overlaps by ten will not stay put.

Why we list it this way

Every product page here carries dimensions rather than a list of car models. Model lists go stale, and a facelift can change a cup holder without changing the name of the car. Send us your measurement and we will tell you plainly whether an item suits it.
