In-car charging and cable habits that avoid trouble
13 August 2026 · Chandu Electronics

Charging in the car goes wrong in three ordinary ways, and all three are avoidable.
The socket
A 12V socket that has held loose change or crumbs makes intermittent contact. Clean it with the car off, and check the fuse before deciding an accessory is faulty.
The cable route
Route any cable so it cannot reach the pedal box. A loose cable near the pedals is a genuine hazard, and it is the single most common bad habit in a fitted car.
Devices in a hot cabin
Leaving a power bank or a battery-powered accessory on the dashboard in direct sun shortens its life and, in the worst case, is a fire risk. Store them in the glovebox or take them with you.
Mounting a phone
Whatever mount you use, it must not block the view from the driving position or sit over an airbag panel. If the only place a mount fits is in front of the instrument cluster, choose a different mount.
What we do not sell
We do not sell wiring looms, fuses or anything that requires cutting into a vehicle harness. Everything in this catalogue plugs in or clips on.
